Dream a New Year Dream...

Dreams often in petal pastels
that captures the heart
with wonderment as to
where the hues have been

Visions again of a new day
full of discovery within the heart
when strolling a path laid out
before each step a mystery

Around the corner of the soul
is a new horizon taking one
to an understanding of the
flight as to where and how

Again the New Year is
waiting with adventures
as the day whirls swiftly by
yet, preparing one for what is –

a dream that is only theirs

Happy New Year from,

'Expressions' Sends Holiday Greetings

Our New Born King

Christmas time has a special glory
for those who know the biblical story,
Of angels that came to spread the word
of Jesus’ birth, their praises we heard

Cold and dark the manger filled with hay
the birth of Jesus took place in a special way,
Mary and Joseph hold their precious Son
He was their gift, they were the chosen ones

The entire world cheered and the heavens were aglow
as brilliant stars twinkled and the angels showed,
Shepard’s the path to His straw lined stall
as they spoke of Jesus, to all they did call

Glory to Him our new born King
has come to the world so love can ring,
He will wash away our sins if we follow Him
living for eternity, He promised, so let us begin -

to show Him our love

"Expressions' wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas ~

Hugs from,
Rhoda, Max (the Scrooge) and Gracie

Maxine Says It All...

Need I say more???

A Place Called Chesapeake...

A far away place I use to know
I love so much very long ago

A place of calm and greenery delight
I’d snuggle in my bed safe at night

People were polite and sweet with their words
at times I’d get lost with words I rarely heard

I now live in a new place happy on my own
a place I found it’s my Long Island home

But, I remember a place causing my heart to peak
a place in Virginia, she is called Chesapeake -

a home away from home

I was talking on the phone to a special person the
other day - I have so many fond memories - living six
years in Chesapeake, VA where I met my southern friend -

A Bluebird Kind of Love...

The Bluebird of Happiness
I send to you today
He brings you all my love
As he hurries on his way
I hope his song
Will touch your heart
The way it was meant to be
And every time you hear it
You will think of me

Happy Birthday, Jesus ~

In the silence of the night
He comes to us, bringing
us heavenly love and
warmth within His touch

As we accept His gift and
cherished love that surrounds us
we gives thanks to Him for He
brought His Son to us on this day

Our hearts receive the purity of His
light that shines upon a new born
in the hay, the light captures our
souls bringing us understanding

Remembering baby Jesus and His birth
we give thanks to you Father for
your blessings and our gift of life as
we bow our heads and give our hearts -

to your Son Jesus

A Memory Tear

There comes a time when heart strings hum
when they remember long ago someone
who touched their life with simple strings
with lines of lace and special things

Memories of days being young and free
when life was happy deep within thee
not a care as one grew older each day
learning about life in a simpler way

Time has past and lessons were learned
some are good others to be yearned
passing thoughts live in thy soul
forever remembered special to behold

A tear crest the eye, but not a moment sad
memories of joy ever so glad
words express those wondrous years
remembered thoughts shall bring that tear -

of happiness

Remembering Tuffy

Remembering 'Tuffy'

Filling one’s heart with emotion
brings life to its mind and body
succumbs a feeling of loss
with passages closed and sealed

One becomes engrossed with tenderness
a purrfect bliss between two souls
that combines two loving hearts
memories of a beautiful moment in time

Being of one thought that holds on -
my family is feline of joyous moments
for my home is purrfect and tranquil
since my human family is now on their own

Oh yes, my emotions are today overboard
I am full of tears at times as I remember -
I must gather my wits and move on to a new day
wondering why my sensitive mindset is what it is…

as I remember ‘Tuffy’

Young Love

Memories of a young yesteryear
dreams come throughout the night
so long ago - tears you fight

Restless mind with turmoil’s unrest
wondering why thoughts drift to and fro
why now - do memories come and go

This is what was known, our time of song
happiness shared so many years gone by
young love forever not questioning why

Scenes come again to ones drifting dreams
aged years are consumed with memories of those
with blended hearts - thought one would never go

Truly trusting my heart was yours
knowing all was safe that day
never dreaming you might go astray -

from young love

Tuffy's Going Home ~

The owner of a Mother Cat moved away leaving her with three new born Kittens. The Mother Cat moved two of her Kittens, but left this Kitten behind - age two weeks. People who care for the welfare of animals took this Kit in, caring for his every need so he would survive. Today he is 6 weeks old and went to his adopted new home, adopted by a friends daughter. He has been tagged 'Tuffy' because he is one tough little Kitty Cat who survived for two days in the cold alone. God always know what He is doing when it comes to little lost Kittens. He brings them to Max and Gracie's neighborhood knowing all would gathered together to save their precious souls.

A Father's Expression ~

My Son
Dedicated to
Arthur C. Ford, Jr.

I sailed out to conquer life
And knew the tides would rise,
I learned life was made of strife
As mother preached so wise

I have traveled pass to port
I have jewelry fine,
I have sat with kings and courts
And kissed her highness wine

I have danced, romanced for days
And still I paid my dues,
And mysteries were just a phase
I found resolving clues

I have answered prayers at times
As favors were fulfilled,
I've digested eternal rhymes
Now poems of thought are milled

But yet, I had let love depart
And life I had not won,
Until the Creator, who’s in my heart
Gave to me My Son

Carry On...

Some days are long;
the road gets tough.
We give it our all
and that is enough.

Friends share our toils
and carry us through.
We learn about love
and generosity too.

We sing of the gift
of a warm embrace.
It lifts our burden
from a weary place.

We learn to look
for others in need.
With grateful hearts,
we spread love’s seed.

Some days are long;
the road is tough.
We give our best
and that is enough.

Kitty Rescue

My Kitty got out one frigid day
Six months old she ran away

She was gone so worried was I
Calling her and looking low and high

Then one night I heard a sorrowful cry
There she was in a tree sixty feet high

The temperature was low I think twenty four
I was scared this Kitten would fall to the floor

Panic set in, what was I to do, I didn’t know
I couldn’t climb that tree, being old and so -

I called the Fire Department of our local town
Fifteen young men came to help my Kitty down

Quickly up the tree the young man went
Talking to her quietly she looked at him content

He grabbed her tucking her close to his chest
Bringing her down safely, knowing she was a mess

The first Kitty rescued by our town’s Firemen
Lucky Kitty a feline who committed this sin

She looked at her Hero and gave a purring song
As if to say, I was scared…so what took you so long?

Mai Ling was rescued by the North Patchogue Fire Department in 2007.
Being this was their first 'Kitty' rescue - the young fireman smiled!!!

A Braveheart Saves...

Our Firemen not only save us, they save the little creatures also.
God Bless Our Fireman!

Hidden Mysteries

Arms that touch my soul
bringing life with a certain goal
that was hidden from the world
brings blushes to this little girl

A rose touches her cheeks
bring joy to days of bleak
as the lilies come to full bloom
bringing fragrance to her stale room

God’s eyes bring daydreams to thee
growing in beauty her eyes do see
she feels a kiss upon her young brow
feelings of not knowing why or how

A true beauty she has become
for hours she has become one
the flame deep inside her frame
shall burn, but no scars shall remain –

as she regains her simple sanity now
from hidden mysteries upon her brow

Lonely Heart

Diamonds created from an uncut stone
buried within the earth’s surface,
once found they are cut and shaped
with facets of purity

Rare is the Diamond that sparkles
with a magnitude of brilliance,
catches a sad eye for clarity
with hues that glow - blinding

Diamonds fill the heart - the purest
of love is given as the soul surrounds
its glowing depth, bringing a moment
of silence to the heart that feels

Rare is the substance that one takes
for granted, purity and love may be
shared as the Diamond opens the heart
to the facets of life as gifts of love -

surrounds the lonely heart

My Sister Cheri...

Please pray for my Sister Cheri
She has several health issues and was taken to the hospital
last night because of severe breathing problems...rg

NOTE: 10-15-11 I got a call here in NY at 5:00 am eastern time. I was soooo asleep, I thought it was my brother-in-law Bob calling about Cheri from Reno, NV. I was so scared because he wasn't talking. Then I realized it was my little sister Cheri. Her voice was raspy, but she was talking. She sounded good, but weak and told me she will be going to rehab in about 3 days. She is on dialysis for about 3 hours also daily. All in all she is improving and she said that the two attendants in the ambulance saved her life. I told her how so many people were praying for her and she said, 'I knew you would do that for me, Rhoda'. God is good and so are all of you for praying for my sister Cheri. Thank you all...rg

NOTE: 10-14-11 Cheri is now improving and is off the respirator. She has been taken to a regular room and will go to rehab in about three days. Her throat is very sore and she is having dialysis three times a day which is elimating the fluid within her body. Thank you for all the prayers my prayer warriors and thank you Alliance for caring...rg

NOTE: 10-10-11 Cheri has improved somewhat, but still on respirator. She also has been put on dialysis as her kidneys are failing. Her vitals have improved,
but she still is a very sick girl...rg

My Parking Angel ~ Matthew

I read one day on a poetry
site that I frequent regularly
that if one prays for three days
they will be revealed their
guardian angel. I prayed for three
days and asked my angel to
reveal their self to me

The third day nothing happened -
so I went about my business, but
still thought about my angel
You see, I have a parking angel
who has been with me for about
four years and wherever I go my
parking angel finds me a parking
space right up close to the stores
entrance - Oh, somedays the parking
lots are very busy, but I know in a
short time my parking space will open up

On the fourth day I pulled into a
parking space, again up close to
the main doors of my favorite
grocery store and as I turned off
my car I heard in my mind the
softly spoken name...Matthew

I heard nothing else -
I said out loud,
'I can't believe it, I thought my
parking angel was a girl' - and
all this time you are a boy!' I am
now on a first name basis with my
angel who revealed himself to me,
my Matthew and he is so generous
when he gives me my parking space
He is with me always, right along with my
Father and when I am done shopping we all
ride back home again together
safe, sound and happy

Thank you Matthew for taking care of me
I love you - rg

In an unusual role reversal, a fox was spotted trailing a beagle in a forest near Montreal, Canada. The odd fox behavior was an effort to protect four newborn fox cubs nearby. The photographer noted that the fox outwitted the dog and saved the family. “It was the first time in my life when I saw foxes so brave, who managed to fight back in front of a hunting dog.”

Police say that the gang usually is comprised of four members,
one adult and three younger ones. While the three younger ones, all
are appearing sweet and innocent, divert their intended target with
a show of friendliness, the fourth--and the eldest--sneaks in from
behind the person's back to expertly rifle through his or her
pocket or purse for any valuables. Here is a picture

The Black Orchid ~

How Grief Speaks

Feelings stir inside the shell stumbling
trying to fit into the mind that does
all the massive instructing,
a balancing act directing
the tired body where to go,
what to do and how to mentally
handle its grief and sorrow

Wondering how to digest it all
how to come to terms with the
event surrounding the hollow
feeling generated deep within,
feelings that I have not come to
terms with as insight developed slowly
during a fourteen month period as
the tone of his voice heightened

The sudden loss of a friend, a neighbor,
a lost soul who turned to me with eternal
desperation in hoped to be comforted during
his spell of discomfort, during his moment
in the place where he went hiding from
the world he didn’t truly understand
searching for a moments peace of mind

I am thinking of him, lost myself for I
couldn’t help him in his black moment as
he tried to justify his untruth of reality
that was too deep to understand for as
he pondered the situation he grew deeper
into anxiety and stress that put him over
the edge for that day, but knowing tomorrow,
he would slip back again into his gentle world -

of his own meaning of life

The Cure ~

The cure is faith for a broken soul,
Taking a moment calms the heart - the goal

Faith brings to one a joyous glee,
as one is freed from deep within thee

The cure is everlasting love,
faith brought to one from above

Faith is real and written in stone,
trust your heart you are never alone

Within One's Mind

Where I was hidden within a mask
unable to move ahead to tackle my own task,
sealed with feelings so the world couldn’t see
pretended life was perfect, but it wasn’t for me

Body and mind captures deep a darkened hole
wanting to explore, but the mind was not whole,
somehow feelings were sealed in its own captive crate
protects my soul, from its wrath before it’s too late

Looking around at others social well being
afraid to take a chance, the eyes may start seeing,
wonder why my ways can’t grow beyond its own wall
questions why I can’t come out of my shadowed hall

Hidden so long my comfort zone took control
today will pass; my thoughts need not take their stroll,
excuses shout ‘I shan’t walk my journeys new path
tomorrow I say - that’s the day to conquer my wrath'

Tomorrow the dark drawing that lies ever still
angels bring encouragement of strength and goodwill,
nourishes life with this pattern of self doubt
thoughts swarm wildly rush swiftly to come out

The Tenth Year ~

Ten short years ago
we saw the unthinkable,
the horrors of death
and destruction of the
beloved twin towers, the
sky line of New York City

Be it twin towers or
buildings of another sort,
the devastation of the
terror that took place on
that day will forever
remain in our memory

Disbelief as the cloud
containing the cries of
those who walked their floors
with trust and conviction
for their safety only to be
shattered in an instant

As the planes hit their target
the unthinkable came to life
as they destroyed the American
landscapes full of history,
along with floors of human dust
that will forever contain

the haunting of 9-11

A Lightning Tale...

Lightning sizzles the darkened sky
not asking anyone how or why
bringing depth to the moments hand
terrifying every creature and man

Moving with wildly startling speeds
screams with a fire tongue that leads
loosing its uncontrolled inner soul
as fury commands its devilish toll

Lightning the rage starts to succumb
all bow, their souls burnt into one
wiped away from coolness they found
only to be burnt, buried into the ground

Violence slowly coming to an end
as swirling calms the darkened wind
brings peace with a sorrowed frown
distant echo’s laugh like a clown -

as lightning tells its tale

Where have you gone?
You use to be so plentiful,
On the shimmering water pond.

Beautiful feathers like
Cloud puffs at your side,
Long neck flowing that moves
To and fro as you glide.

White Swan, White Swan
Come back to us fast.
Your gracefulness, your beauty
We long for you too last.

Without you dear Swan
Our lives would be gray.
We long for your beauty
So stay, please stay -

Angel in My Pocket ~

I have an angel in my pocket
God put her there for me
You may not believe it
She's not an angel you can see

But when I'm sad

And my way seems hard to find
I take time out and say a prayer
And talk to this angel of mine

I will always keep her in my pocket
Close here near my heart
Knowing she will help me
And that we will never part

The Fifteenth Year

The thought of fifteen comes painfully,
as if a stab in the heart from a memory
of an unfair justice, a choice not made of
me, a decision coming from a greater power,
an event that is not of my will.

Yesterday is so vivid, painfully real,
a reality that I never want to endure again,
before my eyes close for the final journey,
when I seek the peace and love from my God,
as He promised me from the beginning.

A single tear comes to my eye as I
remember you and then I weep for
you are no more, you I cannot touch,
you I cannot see or lovingly feel,
for you were taken away for a purpose.

The memory of you is vivid as I remember
the gentleness of your eyes, the sweetness
of your smile, remembering the softness
of your voice as you whispered,
“I love you, Mom”.

I cry tears of a Mother’s emptiness,
for my Sunshine was taken that day
you saw the bright light leading
you to wherever we take our journey,
wherever is His will, whatever is His plan -

knowing we shall embrace again.
