A Special Blessing from NC...

A Requiem Blessing for Cheri Rae Christenson
A Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend....

Tie Cheri's favorite colors of ribbons in a tree…
Let the winds carry your thoughts to her
A Blessing for Cheri
If any time be sacred, it is Now.
If any place be Holy, it is this Place.
Cheri had a purpose and she accomplished much…
She pushed the limits and fought for her right to see new life brought forth.
May we remember her as the vibrant woman she is
When we look at her children and Grandbaby
May we show her our hearts…and she...is in ours...
Never farther than a thought…
Cheri, you came and touched so many hearts
In so many different ways.
You gave so much, and asked very little in return.
There is an emptiness as if a part of us is missing,
But we are sure with time you will show us how to be whole again.
We know you are safe now, and nothing can harm you.
Remember, although we're apart,
We will always be together…
Bíodh sé amhlaidh! Pronounced: BEE-O-shay-Am-lee (Welsh)

A Blessing for the Family
May you know that you are all thought of...dearly.
May all you do…reflect the joy of light…
That Cheri gave to each of you.
Know that she is closer than a whisper on a soft breeze…
And the laughter of a babbling brook…
And the caress of the winds.
As long as Cheri is in your hearts…
She will always be...remembered…
And loved…
Brightest Blessings to you and yours…
Bíodh sé amhlaidh! Pronounced: BEE-O-shay-Am-lee (Welsh)

My Beloved Sister

Cheri and Granddaughter Elle
'The Love of Her Life'
Prayer for Cheri
 (Rhoda’s Only Younger Sister)
The Lord has welcomed Cheri home
She is now an angel above
She watches over those she loves
Embrace her memory today

Lord gives strength to her family
Be assured His comfort they’ll feel
Remember all the love she gave
The Lord has welcomed Cheri home

She does not want tears to be shed,
Only wants to be remembered
Keep a place for her in your heart
She is now an angel above

Do not let sadness overwhelm
Remember the love we did share
Feel her essence surrounding you
She watches over those she loves
Realize she now is at peace
Beautiful gardens she walks through
Hummingbirds frolic before her
Embrace her memory today

Happy Thanksgiving...

November brings a special day
with thought about my family
remembrance of Thanksgivings past
with laughter in everyone’s heart

November brings a special day
with early rise to prepare ‘Tom’
remember who wants the drumstick
and who insists on the white meat

November is a special day
as family arrives from their homes
excited at Mom’s on this day
full of love we all can not wait

November is a special day
wait for the turkey to be done
sit at Mom’s decorative table
‘Tom’ is now ready to be served?

Surprise...
We’re going to a restaurant!

Blessings from our House to Yours
Happy Thanksgiving from ~

Rhoda, Max and Gracie

Cats At Their Bowls Lapping

Imagine Angela,
after all these years,
rising and gliding
to check on my pie,

wouldn’t that be something?
Angela, come to Chicago,
and bring all of your cats.
I’ll watch those cats

in your lap napping,
you in my lap napping,
the cats at their bowls lapping,
and I in my chair laughing.

Angela, bring all of your cats
and come to Chicago
to make Coquilles St. Jacques
and Jefferson Davis Pie.

it will be Coquiles St. Jacques

Cattykin
Come on in
Sit by the fire and drink your warm milk
I will brush you ‘til you are like silk
Sit on my knee and cuddle down so you can sleep
A watchful gaze for you, I will lovingly keep
A purring song you make
Warm love from you I take
Here’s your twin

Feline in Winter

Some days you think the cat will stay till summer comes,
this Prodigal Son you've fed for years, this feral cat
who comes and goes and comes again when hunger strikes
But he just eats and leaves your porch,
despite the pillows plumped for a Sultan’s duff.

He disappears in falling snow
only to appear again outside your door at dawn,
his green eyes dancing when he sees you bring
his mound of kibble, topped with tuna,
and his bowl of milk. Some days he mounts

the pillows for a nap. At noon, however,
he begins to yowl. He wants out again
to parade triumphant down the walk
his tail an exclamation point. He romps
across the snow and fits beneath the fence

He's gone again. Out of sight.
He plans to spend another evening
where the feral cats hold services.
They yowl and fight and copulate
till hunger strikes and then

this Prodigal Son comes back and sits
outside your door with tail wound round
and waits for you to bring his kibble,
topped with tuna, and his bowl of milk.
Then, he's gone again. Out of sight.

Drift

Your heavy desire
only allow you to see
what you are looking for
Travel the road with questions
look high and low along the way
seek the answers do not soar

Confusion causes doubt
clear the mind step by step
take a stroll to the truth
Grow within the lost heart
harsh lessons are now learned
go back to trustful youth

Sing to the heart with love
answers will reveal doubt
from a wing of a dove
Drift to places of peace
calm the minds doubtful side
joy will come pain will cease

Dear Diary

A Day at the Seashore

Ocean breeze caresses the shore
Brings a breath home again once more
Gently dusts white sands
As the sea shell lands
 Reaching hands
Touch and score

Ocean breeze kiss the sea’s white crest
As waves crash with a hardy zest
 Loudly as thunder
Fish swim deep under
They wonder
Where to rest

Ocean breeze comes to quiet calm
As branches relax on the palm
Sun sets in the west
Nature comes to rest
Night is blessed
Sings in psalm

A Short Distance...

A Single Tree Lives Alone in the Meadow
Dedicated to the Senior Citizen

A mile is a short
distance unless you
times it by another -

Joining the walk
together is a bond
that should have
been there from
its beginning -

One should not have
to walk alone when
that short mile is
within another path…

A Single Pink Rose

A single pink rose came to love my heart
Given with promise forever shall be
Bonding between two from the very start
A single pink rose became love from thee

Given with promise forever shall be
Words spoken from one heart to another
A single pink rose became love from thee
Happiness fulfilled came from the other

Words spoken from one heart to another
Gentle moment’s love that was newly found
Happiness fulfilled came from the other
As two come together forever bound

Gentle moment’s love that was newly found
Bonding between two from the very start
As two come together forever bound
A single pink rose came to love my heart

I'm Mr. Max...

My name is Mr. Max
I am a Maine Coon Cat,
I’m almost 17 years
Let me bring you all cheers
Life has been good to me
I am happy full of glee,
Mom Oh, you know who I mean
cares for me this entire scene

When I was a tiny Kit
at the shelter, she came to get,
well actually, she adopted my Sis
came back for me she couldn’t dismiss
So, off we went to Mommy’s home
we were adopted never to roam,
that was 17 long years ago
my Sis has left me that is my woe
I use to be a big boy of 23 pounds
I am old and weight comes off in bounds,
my Mom she worries, I say, ‘Don’t fret’
I’m not ready to go just yet
So, this is my story I am loved a lot
I thank God Mom came for me she sought,
every Kitty should be so blessed
being adopted is the very, very best

Hope...

Hope is a word we use to
get where we want to be
but, sometimes people
use the word too freely -
forgetting to put a search
within the word - to find
what they are hoping for...

A Sea's Score

Evening mist touches one’s lips with a soft kiss
Beams of moonlight gleam with a heavenly touch
Cast a hollow glow in the salted sea mist

Sea breezes stir the salted air in one’s hutch
Grasp violence the sea blankets with its wrap
Captures in her finger’s with a tightened clutch

Waves crash the shoreline with her foamy white caps
Sea takes again white sand with her stormy wrath
Captures sea creatures pushed to shore in her traps

Shore is wildly blown from the wind in sea’s path
Violent rages as she claims again her shore
Drowns all - she commands nature its final bath

Those in her salty wake feel her declared war
As the sea casts her spell to even her score
