White Swan, White Swan...

White Swan, White Swan,
Where have you gone?
You use to be so plentiful,
On the shimmering water pond.

Beautiful feathers like
Cloud puffs at your side,
Long neck flowing that moves
To and fro as you glide.

White Swan, White Swan
Come back to us fast.
Your gracefulness, your beauty
We long for you too last.

Without you dear Swan
Our lives would be gray.
We long for your beauty
So stay, please stay -

And never go away.

Angel in My Pocket ~

I have an angel in my pocket
God put her there for me
You may not believe it
She's not an angel you can see

But when I'm sad

And my way seems hard to find
I take time out and say a prayer
And talk to this angel of mine

I will always keep her in my pocket
Close here near my heart
Knowing she will help me
And that we will never part

The Fifteenth Year

The thought of fifteen comes painfully,
as if a stab in the heart from a memory
of an unfair justice, a choice not made of
me, a decision coming from a greater power,
an event that is not of my will.

Yesterday is so vivid, painfully real,
a reality that I never want to endure again,
before my eyes close for the final journey,
when I seek the peace and love from my God,
as He promised me from the beginning.

A single tear comes to my eye as I
remember you and then I weep for
you are no more, you I cannot touch,
you I cannot see or lovingly feel,
for you were taken away for a purpose.

The memory of you is vivid as I remember
the gentleness of your eyes, the sweetness
of your smile, remembering the softness
of your voice as you whispered,
“I love you, Mom”.

I cry tears of a Mother’s emptiness,
for my Sunshine was taken that day
you saw the bright light leading
you to wherever we take our journey,
wherever is His will, whatever is His plan -

knowing we shall embrace again.

HEALTH MESSAGE ALERT!

If walking is good for your health, the Postman
would be immortal.

A Whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks
lots of water and is fat!

A Rabbit runs and hops, but only lives 15 years!

A Tortoise DOESN'T RUN, BARELY WALKS
AND DOES NOTHING, yet lives for 450 years.

And then, my doctor wants ME TO EXERCISE???

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

With Faith My Answer Is...

The evening is grim
with shadows whispering
quietly amongst themselves,
secrets of the darkened night
hidden in the outline of a willow

Quiet is the moment as
currents stir with movement,
buzzing along the curvatures of
the foliage lined path that longs
to live beyond their dark haven

Can’t light come to thee?
Can’t streams of bright beckoned
suddenly appear for the moment?
Can’t in an instant there be a promise?
A light for tomorrow?

I shan’t be bewildered for it is
with faith my answer is - yes

God ~ Shows Us His Love

"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.

May you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are.

Let this knowledge settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."

Multitude of Feelings

Happy,
head
spinning
round and round
dizzy from
excitement,
joy,
laughter.

Crying,
overwhelmed
tears of joy,
anticipating
happiness
coming,
wishing it
to never go
away.

Loving,
full heart
sharing
with others
hugging,
kissing,
spreading all
good things

Update on Gracie...

Gracie
has been
in for
1 week.
She had
1 minor
Asthma
attack
last Wed.

I guess the culprit to her attacks was her going outside with the grass and the plants!!! She is handling being inside very well. I did carry her out to say hello to the neighbors, just for a moment tonight. She seems to be a happy girl again...

UPDATE: 07-12-11
Gracie has had no attacks and is on meds every other day.
What a relief to have her under control. She has been inside
and seems Ok with it. She even is a little bit more frisky than
her usual self. She can't go outside anymore! rg

A Childhood Carousel

Round and round I go
swirling and twirling
as the stationery horses
enjoy their perfect ride

Carousel of dreams
consume my mind as
I remember the days
of long ago childhood

Wild romping
on my horse of black
nostrils houses his hot breath
as he runs steadily round
and round in circles

Joyous sounds came
from my throat as I heard
the whinny from my steed
‘faster, go faster’ I cried -

as a Childhood Carousel
filled my heart with glee

Author's Note:

As a child I don't remember ever riding on a Carousel.
I was too busy riding 'real horses' on our cattle ranch.
Strange how simple this poetry was for me to write...rg

Kitty Play Time

My Kitties hearts I did touch today
as they romped and played with me,
chasing them around the room
such fun we always have, us three

Moments of joy we share together
tossing their little toys in fun and play,
they hop and jump chasing each other
bringing back the toys - meow they say

My Kitties fill my heart with love
each morning I wake with hugs and purrs,
it’s 6 am; they want me come play,
or open a can of wet food, cuz -

wee’ze hungry, Mom, they say!!!

Sounds of Summer

Excited mother bird
flies over tree tops,
as I hold my eager cat
in the bright sunlight
of the dawning day

Rooster’s from a nearby
neighbors yard crows sounding
their continuous screeching
wake up call as they announce
to all the day has just begun

Looking down into my garden
I hear sounds of little feet moving,
as tiny creatures scurry from
here to there in an attempt again,
to survive the coming days journey

Flower pedals open with a silent calm,
reaches for the warmth of the yellow sun,
displaying beauty to all who take
a moment to view their rainbow hues,
a moment too capture their fragrance as the -

sounds of summer come to claim me again

If You Can...

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand your loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

Then You Are Probably...

Happy Mother's Day ~ 2011

To My Daughter
Patti Pace

There comes a time in a Mother’s life,
when her Daughter takes her role

Growing into a mirror like image,
taking the worries from her Mother’s toll

Longing to come into her own,
surly my Daughter did just that

But, still the genes are strong,
and sometimes that is why we spat

A Mother’s traits can’t be so bad,
if you carry them upon your crown

For look how blessed you’ve become,
I'm so proud you are strong and sound -

on this beautiful Mother’s Day
Love from,
Mom

Invaded

The soul is calm
guiding the body
through the curvatures
of the world highways

Moments now and again
bring it to bend, to sway
as bouts of displeasure
battle the weary frame

Storms arouse the soul
testing limits
grabbing its being to
reveal the stability

Strength within
captures the essence
surrounding a beating heart
giving protection from the -

soul storm that invaded thee

Hello...

You meet people
everywhere you go,
some move fast -
some move slow

Some take a moment
with a friendly hello,
others move along -
you they don't know

Take some time
to flash your smile,
as people pass you by -
maybe even chat for a while

One gloomy day
you might be sad,
as you remember -
a moment you had

to share a cheery hello

An April Fool's Day

A dreary day
the sun went away
to sleep for just a bit longer

Overcast
the winter wants to last
but, we long to go out and play

Misty rain
comes gently down again
as I rise to a chilly day

Mr. Sun
please try to come
warming us so we can say

We have missed your smile
come back for awhile –

take away an April Fool's Day

Moments in Time

Long ago, there stood a moment in time
that we shall all remember knowing
a moment shall come around again

Moments of laughter, of joyous times
with one another as the children played
we all came together - as one

Younger days, growing and longing as
we dreamed of life that shall be laid out
before us - our destiny - our fate

Memories of friends that shared thoughts
of our new homes around us, the planting of
seeds that grew and nurtured our families

Knowing deep in our hearts, we shall
come around again as we passed
through our own moments of time -

we remember those along the way

A Poet's Mirage ~

The movement of the free hand
glides across the page knowing
time and again moments of a
new calling will come before thee

Weary at times wanting to rest
driven to complete a memory,
a thought or feeling before it is
lost in an afternoon’s frenzy

The movement of the free hand
captures forever a lasting expression
nurturing with care not to wavier the
momentum of what is real to the mind

Weary at times wanting to sleep
away the words heard within,
to sweep them under a pillow
of dreams, praying to drift into –

a poet’s mirage of perfection

In My Dreams ~

I dream of open fields
where the young run free,
not fettered by concrete
and enclosed spaces.

I dream of green fields
where children breathe clean air,
not stained by smoke spewing
factories and gray skyscrapers.

I dream of uncluttered fields
where youth play baseball,
not hindered by gang infested
streets and violence.

I dream of natural fields
where kids pick wildflowers,
not hampered by littered
alleys and windowless rooms.

I dream of God’s fields
where children remain innocent,
not plagued with images
that can destroy young lives.
