Before, During, After

 

Before I was feeling empty

Since joy didn’t fit in my heart

Smiles came and went with sad sorrow

Frowns seemed to frame my empty face

 

During this time, I found my way

Seeking my truths as I did pray

Understood that my days turned black

Comfort in life I now did lack

All was taken in a short flash

Dreams tumbled and suddenly crash

As failure overtook one’s mind

Your love in life turned cold and blind

Sorrow captured my body’s peace

Life we lived died coming to cease

 

After years of solitude pain

The mind grew and heart became full

Faith in one’s own self and in God

Taught me again to become full

No place to run

Joy - fill one’s heart with ease

bring smiles it’s sure to please

frown fade and quickly leave

now the heart shall not grieve

 Love - fill one’s heart come eve

happiness scents the breeze

bringing one to believe

mates shall now interweave

 Peace - fill one’s heart to retrieve

lost time wants a reprieve

growing strong blend and weave

love joins, as they achieve 

 Dream - fill one’s heart to receive

life’s joy as they conceive

vowing not to deceive

or ever disbelieve

Serenity Light
 

Slowly she walks to the clearing

leaving tall rugged trees behind

her breath is in a labored state

she hurries to the wooden bridge
 

Escaping turmoil of decades

she turns quickly to see the path

behind her, empty as her life

no one to follow her footsteps
 

Moments of freedom caress her

plan of flight for so long now real

she quickly runs across the bridge

she reaches for her waiting light
 

A bright new dawn now comes to her

promises of a brand new world

she claims her found visions today

her night dreams were of darkest form -

Nonet/Acrostic Form of Poetry - A 9 letter word - Do first stanza
as a Nonet then second stanza as an Acrostic - these styles as
combination must be left justified - Nonet has nine lines - The
first line has nine syllables, second line eight syllables, third line
seven syllables, etc…until line nine that finishes with one syllable
It can be on any subject and rhyming is optional - Acrostic Form is
where the first letter of each line spells a word usually using the
same word as the title...rg

Was In Plain Sight
 

I asked and I received my Lord’s blessings and touch

Heard my voice call to Him in prayer and such

Faith helps me with my woes so much

Lost was I before I knew Him

My life was empty dark cold and so grim

He came to me as angels sang glorious hymn

I received my Lord’s touch; I received my Lord’s touch!
 

Love came to me at the turn of a barren bend

Through Him our spirits now would bond and blend

He sent dove wings so I would mend

Gave me trust and love from His heart

As child no mention of Him from the start

Finding Him fulfills my soul’s empty and lost cart

Turn of a barren bend; turn of a barren bend!
 

I talk to my Lord as if He was in plain sight

Regular prayer sometimes into the night

He hears me telling Him my plight

Reassures life will be on track

Tells me not to hide or take a look back

He takes my hand to a path never will it be black

Enlightenment Poetry Form - Created by Christina R. Jussaume

Seven-line stanza with syllable counts as follows 12, 10, 8, 8, 10, 12
